What was begun as an online journal of the books I read evolved...or maybe it devolved...to also feature behind the scenes goings-on at All About Romance from my perspective (mostly based on my personal feelings - okay, it's a personal pity party); topics I've gone over ad nauseum in commentary at AAR, including the nature of reviews and online behavior; and my non-cyber life (including family and items in pop culture that capture my interest, which is just about everything).

Please do not violate my trust. I restricted certain AAR-related and personal entries for a reason...to keep them as private as possible. Now that my blog is read-only, to access restricted entries you must already have a password; if you do, hold onto it so that you can continue to read restricted entries.

This blog is not part of All About Romance. I ask that you keep comments or questions regarding restricted blog content off of AAR.

Below you'll find the blogs I visit, broken out in my own odd little system of categories.

Four Sucky Harlequin Presents

Thursday, 28 April 2005 1:35 P GMT-05
As promised, today I'll be sharing with you the low-down on the remaining Harlequin Presents novels - these four are those that I didn't care for at all. The explanations for that may sound no different than my reason(s) for enjoying one or another H

Wow!

While catching up on site statistics (catalog.com provides WebTrends, which I really like), I clicked a link I never check and saw that there are 100 or so readers out there who visit AAR eight, nine, or ten times a day!  The total number is actuall

The Veil of Night

Friday, 22 April 2005 12:59 A GMT-05
I'm taking a break from both Romantica and Harlequin Presents to tell you about the very first European Historical Romance I've read all year. That's right...we're nearly finished with the first third of 2005 and I've read just one European Historica

Dedicated E-Book Readers

Sunday, 17 April 2005 6:54 P GMT-05
I have been diligently researching dedicated e-book readers and have narrowed it down to two choices: the Hiebook and EBookwise.   Hiebook: screen diagonal of 5.6 inches (which I think is just under 3.5 inches wide and 4.25 inches tall). Overall si

Ask a Silly Question...

Friday, 15 April 2005 8:51 A GMT-05
I'm so incredibly wiped out as a result of the sheer brain power that went into the brand new At the Back Fence column - written in conjunction with Mary Balogh, Tracy Grant, Adele Ashworth, Mary Reed McCall, Anne Stuart, Lucy Blue, and Marsha Canha

A Few (or more) of my Favorite HP's

Friday, 15 April 2005 12:59 A GMT-05
Earlier this month I listed the romances I'd read by my "favorite" Harlequin Presents romance writer - Cathy Williams. I listed and described her books that I'd read until that time, and most were ones I liked. I've since read another, but

Today's column at Romancing the Blog requests input, feedback, and suggestions, so for those of you dissatisfied or wanting change (except of course, from my perfect little self), now's the time to let TPTB know what you'd like more of, less of, in t

Email link fixed

I was informed yesterday that the email link down the left side of my blog was wrong, and sure enough, for some reason it no longer was correct.  So I've fixed it, and if you've been trying to email me, please try again.TTFN, Laurie Likes Books

I'll be back, but first...

Tuesday, 12 April 2005 9:49 A GMT-05
I just responded to one of many posted comments on yesterday's RTB entry.  I thought it would be useful to copy and paste it here as a new entry, and to provide a link to a blogging from another of RTB's heretofore anonymous founders because it answ

What happens when I don't surf for a day or two...

Tuesday, 12 April 2005 12:59 A GMT-05
After the excitement Friday night on our Reviews Message Board, I decided to let up on surfing the Web for a couple of days.  First thing every day I check email, our five message boards, and then the Romancing the Blog column for the day, followed

A couple of Harlequin Presents

Monday, 11 April 2005 12:38 P GMT-05
I recently traded fifteen HP's to the UBS, but before I did I jotted down the reasons why I didn't like them.  I thought I'd intersperse bloggings about the truly horrendous with those of the Romantica short stories I have enjoyed, since I'm being a

It's really time for me to start talking about books again...I apologize for my recent indulgence into crankiness, but that's how it is. I've been hard at work over the past two weeks on the follow-up to a segment I wrote for the March 15th ATBF on f
