What was begun as an online journal of the books I read evolved...or maybe it devolved...to also feature behind the scenes goings-on at All About Romance from my perspective (mostly based on my personal feelings - okay, it's a personal pity party); topics I've gone over ad nauseum in commentary at AAR, including the nature of reviews and online behavior; and my non-cyber life (including family and items in pop culture that capture my interest, which is just about everything).

Please do not violate my trust. I restricted certain AAR-related and personal entries for a reason...to keep them as private as possible. Now that my blog is read-only, to access restricted entries you must already have a password; if you do, hold onto it so that you can continue to read restricted entries.

This blog is not part of All About Romance. I ask that you keep comments or questions regarding restricted blog content off of AAR.

Below you'll find the blogs I visit, broken out in my own odd little system of categories.

Bad News All Over

Wednesday, 31 August 2005 10:24 A GMT-05
At AAR we're trying to get a plan working to aid Hurricane Katrina victims above and beyond the link we've placed on our home page for donations to the American Red Cross.  The devastation to New Orleans and other cities on the Gulf seems to get wor

When in Rome?

Monday, 29 August 2005 5:05 P GMT-05
I imagine we were one of many families sitting in front of the television last night to watch the premiere of HBO's Rome, and it didn't disappoint.  While we haven't watched all of HBO's highly-touted series - including Six Feet Under and Deadwood -

Tomorrow is the first day of school, so today was "get the house in order" day.  While I'm still sick with the sinus infection I picked up while on vacation, I decided to finally get through the last  bit of wash and unpacking from last w

Going on vacation always gets my book-reading juices flowing, and our trip through the Baltic earlier this month was no exception.  I read a number of books while on vacation, and since returning home, my book binge has continued.  I'll hit on the

My Blogroll

Tuesday, 23 August 2005 5:49 P GMT-05
I spent a couple of hours this afternoon going through my blogroll, culling out blogs that aren't updated very often (Wayne Jordan's for instance, hasn't been updated since May, I believe), and adding others based on links to them from other blogs I

Back Home...Back On-line

Monday, 22 August 2005 1:09 P GMT-05
It's been a busy day thus far!  Although we returned from our vacation Friday night, jet lag and a nasty sinus infection kept me off-line over the weekend.  Then too, whenever I leave town something horrendous happens on one of our message boards,

Getting Ready To Go

Saturday, 6 August 2005 5:13 P GMT-05
Well, we just finished our final bookstore trip before packing for our trip to the Baltic tomorrow.  I worked with Linda and Blythe on Pandora's Box the past few days, put up five reviews today and plan to put up another half dozen late tonight, the

Ready by Lucy Monroe

Friday, 5 August 2005 6:42 P GMT-05
While Lucy Monroe's Come Up and See Me Sometime was released a couple of months earlier than her trade-sized release, Ready, I ended up reading the latter, which features a suspense sub-plot, first.  Ready is her most The Real Deal-esque book I've

An article at AAR on the subject

Wednesday, 3 August 2005 10:49 A GMT-05
Some more "stuff" came out overnight, giving me a further opportunity to think about the events leading up to, during, and after Saturday night's RITA awards ceremony as mentioned in my last blogging.  So I've written an article at AAR th

RWA & the RITAs

Tuesday, 2 August 2005 6:00 P GMT-05
I mentioned in a not-so-long-ago-issue of ATBF that there is a firestorm brewing within RWA's membership, and emails I've been receiving from authors in attendance indicate that it worked itself into this year's RITA presentation in Reno. If you reca
