What was begun as an online journal of the books I read evolved...or maybe it devolved...to also feature behind the scenes goings-on at All About Romance from my perspective (mostly based on my personal feelings - okay, it's a personal pity party); topics I've gone over ad nauseum in commentary at AAR, including the nature of reviews and online behavior; and my non-cyber life (including family and items in pop culture that capture my interest, which is just about everything).

Please do not violate my trust. I restricted certain AAR-related and personal entries for a reason...to keep them as private as possible. Now that my blog is read-only, to access restricted entries you must already have a password; if you do, hold onto it so that you can continue to read restricted entries.

This blog is not part of All About Romance. I ask that you keep comments or questions regarding restricted blog content off of AAR.

Below you'll find the blogs I visit, broken out in my own odd little system of categories.

Castles

Saturday, 29 September 2007 10:44 A GMT-05
My husband was at day one of a two-day retreat yesterday for a leadership project, and as a result, didn't get home until pretty late. He'll be gone for much of today as well, so I decided to use the time to do some creative work at Shop AAR. 2008

Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict Laurie Viera Rigler Grade: C+ Sensuality: Subtle I'm not quite sure what I expected when I cracked open Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict, but it wasn't a time travel novel. Still, the author's prose style enga

LOL...Not Really

Thursday, 27 September 2007 1:37 P GMT-05
On Monday I called the corporate offices of Level3 Communications several times after a very discouraging conversation with their repair center, during which I was told that they could not set up a service ticket because AAR and its host, inetconcept

Damn!

Tuesday, 25 September 2007 9:00 A GMT-05
Damn! Now that it's over, can I tell you how absolutely angry and scared I've been since discovering that AAR users in at least six states who use very popular ISP's were essentially locked out of the site for nearly a week? Yesterday I actually emai

Mad Men (again), Gordon Ramsey, Top Chef

Thursday, 20 September 2007 4:38 P GMT-05
Okay, so the last two episodes of Mad Men have me riveted, and I'm no longer wavering about whether or not the show pisses me off more than it engages my interest. Sandy's got a great blog entry about it over at AAR After Hours, and the comments intr

Starbucks Makes Me Feel Good

Wednesday, 19 September 2007 5:08 P GMT-05
As I write this, I am sitting in my local Starbucks, enjoying the entire experience of not only drinking my tall sugar-free hazelnut, non-fat latte, but of drinking it at a table that allows me to plug in my laptop and work for as long as I want to.A

e-Harmony

Tuesday, 18 September 2007 9:39 A GMT-05
A good friend of mine, in researching a book a couple of years ago, joined e-Harmony.com, and came away with a very bad taste in her mouth. What I know about online dating services could fill a thimble; about all I know about e-Harmony.com is that un

Much To Share!

Saturday, 15 September 2007 12:45 P GMT-05
Okay...lots of news to disseminate today, beginning with this: AAR's MySpace page is settling in nicely. I had two reasons for creating the page to begin with - to find a quick way to create links to authors and to help draw traffic to AAR from amon

Existential TV

Thursday, 13 September 2007 10:08 P GMT-05
So right before this week's episode of Tim Gunn's Guide To Style ended - and it was great, again, great swag, great segment with Carmen Marc Valvo, and instead of the life coach they had a terrific runway walking teacher because this week's make-over

AAR now on MySpace, and btw...

Thursday, 13 September 2007 7:58 A GMT-05
AAR now has a home on MySpace! I set up the page a couple of days ago, and tweaked it through yesterday, when I publically announced its creation on AAR, this blog, an AAR After Hours. It occurred to me as I tried to add just enough text to the page.

Tell Me You Love Me

Wednesday, 12 September 2007 10:35 A GMT-05
On Sunday night my husband and I watched the debut episode of Tell Me You Love Me, HBO's new hour-long drama. Prior to the airing, critics had praised the show, but warned of its full nudity and extreme sexuality. They were right on all counts, but

MySpace update

Friday, 7 September 2007 11:23 A GMT-05
I no longer feel like I need to join Lucy in the "Friends of the Friendless"...I've got 28 friends! Yes, it's thoroughly ridiculous, and it seems to me that MySpace is the Webring of the "oughts", but yesterday I had a good time creating a music pla

The Fashionista Diaries

Thursday, 6 September 2007 11:01 A GMT-05
So, A Model's Life interested me far more than any but the first two seasons of America's Next Top Model, but true drama fashion, in the bitchiest, cuttingest sense of the word, occurs on The Fashionista Diaries. The show, which airs on soap.net (a c

Summer TV Wrap-Up

Wednesday, 5 September 2007 11:03 A GMT-05
So last night we watched the finale of Flight of the Conchords, which I first raved about earlier in the summer. Great episode, but it left me feeling kind of bereft to see what happened to poor Jemaine and Bret. Murray? I fear he may be a lost ca

Testing the Waters

The Devil Went Down To Georgia

Monday, 3 September 2007 12:00 A GMT-05
Yesterday in the car we were listening to the 70s on 7 (an XM station) and what I think is the best ever country song - and I don't like country music - came on the radio. My husband, who loves all music, country included, pretty well agreed. Below

Big Spankable Asses?
